Children
Mark 10:14 sets the tone for our children’s program: “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.” We understand that the future of the church tomorrow depends on how we minister to our children today.

Nursery
This stable environment for infants through 3-year-olds provides children with the opportunity to be around their peers, play with toys, and learn to recognize the nursery attendants as friends. The nursery is available during both Sunday morning services and the Sunday school hour, as well as during Wednesday night Bible study and other events.

Sunday school
“Believe in God, believe also in me.” (John 14:1). The engaging Live B.I.G (Live Your Belief in God) resource guides our teaching teams as they help pre-K through 5th grade children come to know the love of God through Jesus. Each lesson is based on three B.I.G. truths: God is a great big God; God loves us with a great bid love; and We are part of God’s great big world. Children hear, see and live their belief in God by exploring a monthly theme, idea and Bible verse through exciting activities, games, music, media, stories, worship and prayer.

Children’s church
Following the children’s message in both worship services, children may attend their own service where they are introduced to worship through Bible-story telling, singing and games.

Missions
Our children love mission work. In the fall, the children met on Wednesday evenings for “It’s our Lord’s Acre Too” where they created home-made items to donate to our Lord’s Acre Country Store and Auction. This spring, our children donated scores of their own books to a children’s ministry to bring books to children in need. One of their favorite projects was working with our Missions team to assemble health kits for those in need in Haiti.

Vacation Bible School
Each June, our congregation hosts a week-long, evening Vacation Bible School for local children from 4 through 11. Our volunteers come together in impressive numbers to enthusiastically share the Good News with the children of our community through meals, crafts, games, story-telling and much more.

Wednesday Evenings
On Wednesday evenings, after our all church meal, our Awana clubs meet from 6:00pm to 7:00pm.  To find out more information about Awana clubs click here.

Annual Activities
Each Spring sprouts an Easter Egg Hunt, usually on Palm Sunday. In September we roll through town singing, dancing and tossing candy in the Ovilla Heritage Day Parade (in which our kids have won a fair share of float awards). October’s Truck-or-Treat and Carnival is a community favorite and, of course, everyone loves a Christmas Program in December.

Other Activities
With an energetic and spontaneous group, you never know just what activity you mind find going on at OUMC. It could be a movie night, swimming party, caroling or visit to a nursing facility. We might be making soap, working with mosaics, creating cards, cooking, playing games or singing on a Wednesday night.
